Sanrio x Rastaclat
Small gift, big smile® is the mantra of Sanrio. For over 40 years, Sanrio has been creating smiles and believe that a gift is more than just a gift. By showcasing their unique characters, their gifts are a way of expressing genuine feelings for others. Founded by Shintaro Tsuji in 1960, Sanrio was originally known as the Yamanashi Silk Company. In 1962, Tsuji expanded his business from silk to rubber sandals with flowers painted on them. He noticed that the profits increased by adding a design to the sandals. In response to this, he hired cartoonists to design characters for his merchandise. In 1973, the company was officially established under the name "Sanrio." The company produced a line of character merchandise around gift-giving occasions. Hello Kitty was the foundation of early Sanrio characters in 1974. The first line of merchandise was released in 1975.
