LAST DAY OF SUMMER, TIE DYE DAY!

It’s the last day of summer! We dyed some shirts to celebrate!

Rastaclat Tie Dye Shirts

Ingredients:

  • Powdered Dyes ( Jacquard Procion used here)
  • White - Beige Rastaclat Tees
  • 5 gallon bucket
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Rubber Bands
  • Twine
  • Plastic Tub
  • Window Screen
  • Scissors
  • Synthrapol Detergent
  • Soda Ash

Ingredients for Tie Dye

Steps:

  1. Pre-wash the shirt in warm water (syntrapol optional) to remove chemicals and oils. This will help the dyes stick.
  2. Mix water with a cup of soda ash in the bucket and allow the shirts to soak for 15 minutes.
  3. Tie the shirts in your desired pattern with the rubber bands, you may even skip the rubber band step and scrunch the shirts when it’s time to dye.
  4. Place the window screen on the bucket and disperse the shirts around, making sure that there’s enough flat spots for ice to sit on.
  5. Cover the shirts with ice completely.Cover with Ice
  6. Using a spoon or fork, gently spread a small amount of dye around, allowing the dyes to make contact with the ice.
  7. Be creative with it, the dyes will melt on the ice and catch on the shirts below. Ice may be added as needed.
  8. A second round may be applied if you feel like it needs more colors.
  9. Wait at least 24 hours for the ice to melt and for the shirts to settle with the dyes.
  10. Rinse the shirts until the water is clear and wash them with 2 capfuls of synthrapol.
  11. Air dry and wear!
