About Us
The foundation of Rastaclat’s values and function are a true reflection of Founder/CEO Daniel Kasidi’s vision, to inspire the world to Seek the Positive. What started as a made-to-order, handcrafted shoelace bracelet, has become a full-fledged social movement embraced by all walks of life and his vision is heralded with every single touch point.
A first-generation American originally from Kenya, Kasidi faced struggles early on in life but learned that with determination and persistence, anything is possible. Overcoming the language barrier, Kasidi reveled in the self-motivated growth that came with mastering skills in solo sports, like Martial Arts and Skateboarding through which he could act as his own coach. These hobbies taught Kasidi qualities such as strong discipline, passion and dedication through which he discovered a work ethic that would set the tone for his success as a young entrepreneur and founder of Rastaclat.
Skateboarding in particular played an essential role in his path to success. An introvert by nature, Kasidi was drawn to the way that skateboarding allowed him to express himself without words as a teenager. Kasidi credits skateboarding for identifying his place in the world where he developed confidence, and the ability to connect with others who shared his affinity for the sport. Through skateboarding, Kasidi also earned a reputation within the community, eventually earning him a sponsorship from a notable shoe company.
It would be through Kasidi’s stockpile of sneakers that the first Classic Shoelace Bracelet design would come to life. One day waiting for a ride from a friend, Kasidi braided a set of shoelaces together into a bracelet, bonding the ends together by setting them aflame with a lighter. Little did Kasidi know how much this unconscious creative act would evolve. The bracelet attracted the attention of his friends, and eventually the 16-year-old was taking custom orders and selling handfuls of bracelets at his high school. Kasidi loved the way his bracelets made his friends feel, and how their joy and positivity seemed to radiate into other parts of their life. Today Rastaclat continues to create life inspired accessories and apparel and bands together to encourage freedom of expression for all.
Rastaclat (pronounced rah-stuh-claht) translates to the Cloth of the Righteous. Derived from Patois, a dialect commonly used in the Jamaican creole native language, Rasta means the Righteous, and Clat means the Cloth.
Distinct in design and emblazoned with our lion logo, our products create an instant bond among its wearers. The Cloth of the Righteous reminds us that we are not alone in our effort to influence positive change. Symbolizing humanity’s shared creative spirit, our products symbolize how we as humans are also cut from the same cloth. There is a sense of camaraderie among fellow members of the #CLATLIFE, and our bracelet has now become a symbol of Positivity worldwide.

Products
A majority of Rastaclat bracelets are 100% polyester, therefore getting the lace wet for cleaning is fine. We suggest using a toothbrush as a scrubbing tool and a mixture of unscented hand soap and water as a cleaning solvent.
- Brush thoroughly throughout the bracelet, then rinse it out with water.
- Immediately after the rinsing process, it is best to use a dry towel to absorb any moisture from the hardware and bracelet.
- We highly encourage air drying your bracelet before wearing again to prevent moisture in bracelet from collecting dirt/dust.
If you decide to machine wash your Rastaclat bracelet, we advise storing it in a polyester mesh laundry bag. The usage of the laundry bag will prevent damage to hardware and loss of product. We suggest avoiding machine drying your product, but rather allowing your bracelet to air dry.
We recently launched the ability to customize your own Rastaclat bracelet. You can now enter in a phrase up to 16 characters and we'll print out your design. Make your own bracelet today!
